Been a while

Sorry for the lack of updating. It’s been really busy around here. I’ll try to post more soon, though. Most of my posting has gone to my Flight Rising Nuzlocke to keep with the required daily postings, though I’ve had issues with that too as of late. Ugh…

I’ll start with my jury duty notice that I’ve been complaining about for the past month. Last you heard, it had come back to get me during the last few days of my service. I was supposed to serve on Thursday.

The case was settled out of court by Tuesday when I called to check in. Yay!

We visited my great-grandmother in her nursing home on Friday. She has intense dementia and can barely hear us despite her hearing aids. She seemed to be pretty sure it was my uncle’s birthday and that we needed “to get him a present to make him happy”. Mom fed her gummy bears through the conversation. A lot of laughs were had at GG’s (great-grandma) responses to misheard topics. She wanted to go find my grandpa in the basement for my uncle’s birthday party.

For a second, mom had teased GG about something and I saw a flash of her old self again. “Oh, you stop that!” It only lasted a second but it was the GG I remembered before the dementia kicked in.

She got really confused and anxious by the end of our visit. It made mom really worried.

The temperatures have been rising to the low 80s here, in Fahrenheit. Mom and I have spent most of our time gardening and watering and planting flowers and veggies. It’s a lot of work for food and beauty.

Already have the window fans out to combat the heat…

Last thing, we went to visit my brother. He had come back from drill pretty angry. Apparently his sergeant or someone insulted the heck out of us to get a rise out of my brother since they were off-duty. My brother refused to hit him…until he insulted all of us in turn to his face.

I’m apparently “a retard that will never be able to care for herself”.

Obviously, my brother beat the crud out of him. Had to be pulled off by a few others from his squad. Makes me worried about him going to training this summer.

Also makes me worried about the kind of people the military employ. I sure as heck don’t want that sergeant claiming he’s serving and protecting…when he’s calling me a retard behind my back.

Just food for thought…

Most Emotional Pokemon Trailer Ever!!

It’s the Japanese trailer for Sun and Moon, which is vastly different from the English trailer. I can’t even understand the language but the message it sends is clear.

Watch it here.

Most beautiful thing I’ve seen yet from Pokémon in terms of game trailers. Why don’t we get amazing trailers like this, America? WTF?

Screw you, Friday the 13th

Mom and I just realized that tomorrow is Friday the thirteenth.

It’s supposed to freeze tonight. As in, kill all of the flowers we just planted. All the ones that are blooming right now.

Opening fishing is tomorrow. That means drunk fishermen will be on the roads.

It’s the thirteenth. Obvious bad luck factor there.

So we just got done dragging in potted flowers and hanging plants. We’ve draped blankets and other covers over the gardens to save our tulips and glads and peonies. We’ve got tote covers on pots with bulbs in them. The greenhouse is locked up tight.

We’ll be hunkering down tomorrow, hopefully. We pray the frost does not kill everything as it passes through.

Sun and Moon Info, Yes!!

New info has been revealed today, just as promised by Junichi Masuda. We get key characters, the starters, release dates, and the box art images depicting the version mascots.

Sun and Moon will be released everywhere but Europe on November 18, 2016. Europe will get it five days later on November 23, 2016.

The starters are as follows:

  • Rowlet, a Grass/Flying-type owl Pokémon. It will know the new move Leafage (no information has been revealed about it yet) and have the ability Overgrow.
  • Litten, a Fire-type cat Pokémon. It will know Ember and have the ability Blaze.
  • Popplio, a Water-type seal Pokémon. It will know Water Gun and have the ability Torrent.

The mascots are depicted on the box art but have yet to be named. One is a large maned lion on the cover of Sun. The other is a large bat on the cover of Moon.

The games will be set in the Alola region, which will resemble Hawaii.

Two characters have been revealed. The player that gives you your starter Pokémon is an older man named Hala. He is likely the region’s professor. Professor Hala? Is there a hala tree??

A young man named Kukui also appears. Perhaps the maker of the Box system for Alola? Or some kind of assistant to Hala, since he’s seen with Hala in the video? Maybe he could even be a rival?

Character customization has returned for S/M, as it was in X/Y.

Info can be read here and watched here.

Personally, I think my choice will be Litten. I’m hoping it evolves into a Fire/Dark-type, if only because it’s coloration seems to dictate this. I love it’s attack style! Look at its back in the vid! So cute!

Betting Rowlet stays Grass/Flying throughout its evolution line. This’ll make it the second dual-type starter since Bulbasaur back in Gen 1.

I’m torn on Popplio. I want it to stay Water or go Water/Fairy. If it goes Water/Fighting, we just have a circus version of the Oshawott line ahead of us and that’ll be no fun. Give us Water/Fairy, GameFreak!!

Pretty sure Moon will be my main game, if only because its mascot looks amazing. But I’ll likely get both versions, because that’s what I generally do.

Can’t wait for the next dump of info.

New Sun and Moon info incoming soon!

Just checked Bulbapedia today to see if there’s any word on new Sun and Moon info…and there was!

BulbaNewsNOW ‎@BulbaNewsNOW

New Pokémon Sun & Moon information will be released on May 10

That’s in two days! Yes!

Also, Junichi Masuda sent out a tweet regarding the new info release.

The information will be revealed at 9 pm JST

This was all translated from Japanese, of course. So unless you can read Japanese, the above links–beyond the numbers signifying the date–won’t really help you.

So, new info on May 10! Sweet!

Mom, how did you do this?

My mom is amazing. Very amazing. Extravagantly amazing.

She can break scissors while cutting Velcro.

It happened today at noon before we went to the dorm. We had just cleaned out the truck and mom was fixing the center storage between the front seats so she grabbed Velcro and scissors. She started cutting the Velcro…and the scissors broke at the first cut.

These were perfectly good, well taken care of, scissors.

It broke on the pivot joint that let the blades move. Just broke off. The blades and handles are still intact. We now have two halves of a scissor.

I have the pieces in my drawer. I will keep them forever. As proof of how amazing my mother is.

First burn of the year

I’m going to update this blog more regularly now that I’m not stuck focusing on the class project blog. Classes have ended as of last Thursday and my finals ended on Monday, so I’m free of everything but work and dorm move-out, the latter ending tomorrow.

We had a tree in our yard crack and fall against another tree in our yard. If it fell again due to wind, it was going to hit the corner of the house that mom’s room is in. Mom panicked and had Jo call a bunch of guys until someone could come in the next day to cut the tree down past the break. The tree used to be a woodpecker nest and mom was scared that babies would be inside, so she had one of the cutters climb the tree to check. Turns out there was a family of sugar gliders living in the old woodpecker holes. They flew away before the guy reached the hole.

Today mom and I had our first fire in the pit. Jo left yesterday for his summer trucking job, so (like last summer) it’ll be mom and me at home to do everything. So we gardened and raked up leaves today. There’s supposed to be a thunderstorm on Friday and mom didn’t want the leaves all over the yard.

“How about a quick fire?”

So we gathered up all the leaves in the wagon, hauled it to the burn pit, and had us a fire. The smoke (yellow because vegetable matter) smelled like the smoke in those colored smoke bombs that you get for the Fourth of July. It was gross.

The fire went quick and now we’ve got fresh ash in the pit. The fire even ate up some of the green branches we tossed in earlier. All in all, the yard looks clear again.

It looks like it’ll be a good summer so far. The tulips are about to bloom, the gardens are raked, the boys are gone, and I’ll be out of my dorm by 5:00 tomorrow. Life is good…
